Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi to speak at RBA Special September General Membership Luncheon

The Rockland Business Association is pleased to announce that Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi will speak at a special September General Membership Luncheon. Suozzi headed the Governor’s Property Tax Commission and will offer a presentation on the commission’s findings. The RBA is among a select group of organizations to host this presentation. “A property tax cap could be the single most important issue facing New York State today,” said RBA President/CEO Al Samuels. “The Suozzi commission and the Governor are advancing realistic proposals to reign in the excessive costs that are passed on to state residents through their property taxes.” Suozzi’s approach includes both circuit breaker and mandate relief in addition to a tax cap. “The property tax cap is a necessary first step to relieve New York’s unsustainable property tax burden,” Suozzi said. “New Yorkers are demanding a solution to out of control property tax growth. Exorbitant property taxes have driven over 1.5 million residents to vote with their feet and leave our state in the past few years. We cannot allow New Yorkers to continue to be forced out of their homes.” The RBA is part of The New York Property Tax Cap Coalition, a grassroots coalition in support of a statewide property tax cap in New York composed of nearly 900 individuals and organizations, at www.taxcapnow.org. |
